The longest running annual international TV song competition, Eurovision, began in 1956 and only allowed the European countries to participate. The competing countries have to submit an original song and it is performed live on TV and Radio.
The audiences are then asked to vote and the singer that gets the most votes is not only considered the winner but also given a boost to his career during the first few years. In Eurovision, only one exception was made in 2015 when Australia was invited to participate apart from that other countries are not allowed.
Ireland holds the record for winning the 7 Eurovision contest. Yet Ukraine is not behind either and has won two competitions.
The first win
Ukraine got its first victory in the 49th annual Eurovision contest that was held in Turkey. The singer Ruslana won the competition with her mind blowing song wild dances. The fact that shocked many nations were that it was the second participation of Ukraine in the Eurovision and it already grabbed the love and attention of the audience with its creative songwriting skills and melodious voice.
Eurovision 2016 winner
Yet again, this year Ukraine got the trophy in its hands because of the talented singer Jamala. She won the hearts and votes of the audience with her song 1944 that was in love and peace. What was more heart touching is that when she won the prize she said that everyone talks about peace and love but through by song 1944 I really want it to spread in the whole world.
