Good to know:
The distance of our trekking from the Zaroslyak basecamp to the top of Goverla is 4 km. one way. The route to the top can be approximately divided into three equal parts. Each one of them differs in its landscape and gradient.
The first part is the easiest. You will walk through the beautiful forest, cross the mountain streams and breathe fresh air. Later the scenery changes, the forest ends and small bushes grow instead. This a place where we make our first break.
The second part of the route is steeper. The path is winding and different kinds of berries grow here. The surrounding view becomes spectacular. It’s not so easy to look around on this narrow path but if you stop for a moment to drink some water you can see the distance you’ve handled and the route you are about to take.
The third part of the trekking is the steepest and the landscape becomes rigid with only grass growing there. You see the top of Goverla just in front of you; it seems that you need a hundred steps to reach it; however, it takes 30-40 minutes to climb there.
On the top of Goverla we make a long break for an hour or even more. You can take a lot of amazing pictures, have lunch and celebrate the conquest of Goverla.
The way down usually takes a little less time than the way up. You will admire the panorama of the Carpathians as you walk down. It’s a pleasure to cross the forest again, to drink fresh spring water and relax after such great trekking.
