Your day trip to Poltava will start early in the morning, once our driver picks you up at your Kiev hotel and takes you to the Kiev Railway Station. A comfortable high-speed Intercity train from Kiev to Poltava departs at approx. 6:20am – 6:40am and the road takes 3 hours. We’ll inform you exact departure time at the time of booking.

Once you arrive in Poltava and meet your local guide, a fascinating 3-hour city tour will start. You will discover all the must-see landmarks of the city, including the Round Square with the Glory Monument in the middle, Corpusniy Garden – a beloved place of the citizens of the city, and an interesting building of former peasants’ bank, decorated with the figures of firebirds with women’s heads.

Then, you will spot an iconic sight of Poltava – a White Rotunda (White Arbor) on the Ivanova Mountain and enjoy a breathtaking view of the Vorskla River and The Holy Cross Monastery from the observation deck. Your guide will show you a popular travel attraction – Poltava Dumpling Monument and you can take a picture of you inside the huge bowl with “galushki”.

After the sightseeing tour, you’ll have some free time in the city center, your guide will advise you the best local cafes, and restaurants for lunch (own expenses).

In the second part of the day, depending of your interests and the day of the week, you have a possibility to visit one of the following museums in Poltava:

  • Poltava Battle History Museum. Nine halls of the museum host unique documents and exhibits that will enlighten you of the history and events of the Battle of Poltava, 1709, a crucial point in the Great Northern War. (Closed on Mondays)
  • Poltava Long-Range Aviation Museum. A former strategic airbase today is turned into a museum of aviation, with rare samples of military aircrafts of the Soviet times, including TU-160 and TU-95. There is also a possibility to get inside the cabins of some aircrafts. (Closed on Mondays)
  • Poltava regional Museum (Museum of Local Lore named after Vasyl Krichevsky). The building of the museum, constructed in 1908, is a wonderful architectural masterpiece. A valuable collection of the museum represents different aspects of the history and culture of the region – its nature, archeology, ethnography etc. (Closed on Wednesdays).

After a visit of museum, you will have some free time in the city center to buy souvenirs and visit restaurants and cafes (own expenses). Later, your will get to the railway station of Poltava and depart back to Kiev at approx. 8:00pm. Once you arrive in Kiev at approx. 11:00pm, our driver will meet you drop you off at your hotel.
