Description
We invite you on an informative 3-hour private tour of one of the most significant Kyiv attraction – Musem of History of Ukraine in the World War II. Situated in a picturesque part of the city, this museum occupies a territory of 11 ha and overlooks the Dnipro River. It was officially opened on May 9, 1981 and contains over 300 thousand exhibits of the World War II period.
The first thing you are going to see in the museum is an impressive monument of the Mother Motherland. Being 62 meters tall itself and standing on a 40-meter pedestal, it is one of the tallest statues of the world. To compare, a famous Statue of Liberty in New York is 46 meters tall on a 47-meter plinth.
The main exposition of the museum is situated in the pedestal of the Mother Motherland statue and contains unique collections of documents and materials that helps you to imagine the scale of the tragedy of the World War II. A comprehensive 1.5-hour tour around the somber halls of the museum will enlighten you about tragic facts of the war period, as well as about the heroic struggle against Nazism.
After that, walk through the alley of the hero-cities, discover the open-air exhibition of the military equipment and see the sculptures and monuments depicting the events during the World War II.
In your free time, you may rise on one of the observation decks in the Mother Motherland statue (36 m or 91 m high), using a special elevator. You’ll be impressed with the bird’s-eye views of Kyiv and will definitely enjoy this breathtaking experience. (Optional, for additional fee).
