Not many people know that Nazi leaders – Hitler, Himmler and Goering spent a lot of time in their fortified residences and bunkers on the territory of Ukraine, during offensive operations of Wehrmacht. Most of the territory of Ukraine was occupied by Hitler’s troops by the end of 1941 and they started building appropriate premises for their Fuhrer and other bosses of Nazi party.

Start the trip early in the morning from your Kyiv hotel and together with your guide travel 140 kilometers west to the first stop – a small village Huyva near Zhytomyr. From the 10th of October 1941 until the 1st of July 1942 soviet prisoners of war were building there “Hegewald” for Heinrich Himmler – the head of SS. Chef of the black-shirts spent significant amount of time in this residence and held many very important meetings here. For instance, in the late summer 1942 here was the general assembly of SS leaders, discussing and approving plan “Ost” – colonization of occupied territories.

This is the only preserved but almost unknown residence of Nazi leader on the territory of Ukraine. Once the Red Army returned to these lands it used the premises for its own needs. Even today, part of the bunkers and underground passages are on the territory of active military unit. However, the other entry to the bunker and the chancery of Himmler are free to enter.

Unlike Himmler’s Headquarters, Goering’s bunker “Steinbruch” was completely destroyed and lies in ruins in inaccessible forest 50 km from Hegewald. Even though it’s not possible to get there, you will learn the most important facts from its history from your guide.

The last destination of the trip is a notorious Werwolf bunker – Hitler’s main residence in Ukraine, located 128km for Hegewald, not far from Vinnytsa. Although it was almost completely destroyed by retreating German troops in March of 1944 it has an interesting museum and many informative stands. You can find some rare samples of military technics and weapon from the World War II time there.

After such an informative trip, our return trip starts. Once you arrive in Kyiv, your driver will drop you off at your hotel.
