Start your day trip to Mukacheve early in the morning, when you meet your private expert guide at the lobby of your hotel. The distance from Lviv to Mukacheve is 230 km and the road there will be comfortable and interesting, and you’ll contemplate picturesque landscapes along the route.
Our first spot will be at the famous Castle Shenbornov, not far from Mukacheve. This was a hunting lodge of the counts Shenbornov, built in the end of the 19th century. This castle is a beautiful architectural masterpiece with Neo-Gothic and Renaissance elements in its decoration. Nowadays, a popular sanatorium “Karpaty” is located in the building of the castle, surrounded with an elegant park zone.
The next attraction of the trip is a fascinating St. Miklos Castle in Chinadievo. Steeped in legends and myths, this medieval castle is without a doubt a must-visit place of the Trascarpathian region. A group of volunteers holds various art exhibitions, musical performances and historical festival there. The theatrical tour around the castle will be one of the brightest impressions of the trip. You’ll hear a tragic and intriguing love story, that took place in the castle.
Our tour continues, and we reach the final destination – Mukacheve, where you’ll have some free time in the city center to have lunch (own expense). Afterwards, your guide will show you the most interesting places of the city, including the Town Hall, Myru Square, St. Cyril and Methodius Monument and Chimney Sweep Monument. You will wander through the narrow cobblestone streets of this charming town and feel its special welcoming ambiance.
The highlight of the tour is a visit of a stunning Palanok Castle, located on a scenic hill, overlooking the town. It is one of the oldest and at the same time well-preserved castles of the Western Ukraine. Founded in the 11th century, Palanok Castle has always played an important role in the history of the region and you’ll discover the most interesting facts from its past and present. Your guide will tell you intriguing legends about ghosts, you’ll see a magic well and make a wish, holding an index finger of the count Koryatovich monument. Moreover, you’ll see a breathtaking panorama of Mukachevo from the high castle hill.
After such an entertaining and informative program, the return trip to Lviv will start. Once you arrive in Lviv, you driver will drop you off at your hotel or apartment.
